power. thanks for joining us. when did you get here? >> monday morning first thing. >> reporter: and what has it been like. >> kind of tough. we are working in back property lines and working in the woods and different hills and everything we are not used to. so it's been tough. >> reporter: what's the weather been like? the heat made it harder? >> the heat you know coming from mississippi, we are used to the heat. so it's not that bad for the heat. >> reporter: when it comes to people who are without power, still, you know they are frustrated, we are going into day five of this, any words for them? you are working hard? >> just be patient. we are doing the best we can. and we are getting out there and we have our guys. we want to work the job safely. that's our ultimate goal is get lights back on safely. bewant every-- we want every guy we brought to go back. >> reporter: these are long days. you get up early and are back lake. >> we leave get up the hotel around 6 and get down here and eat and then we are on the road going to get power back on.

operation. crews have been showing up to start their day of work. we have crews from as far away as canada, from california alabama and mississippi and you can see the guys over there getting their projects for the day. picking up ice and water and the breakfast. the guys are heading out to start the 12 to 16-hour shift. they have been work hard. and earlier in -- working hard. earlier in the morning we spoke to a contractor from california who has been work nonstop getting 3 hours of sleep a night since monday. and what they do they are out there and they said one of the biggest challenge they face is when they are out working on a site and they've lot of people coming up to them asking when will the power be back on and he says one of the problems is it takes away from the time they can work on the problem. so, the word is from these contractors try to be patient and they are doing their best to get power back on for ever ione. right now things are about 100,000 customer over 100,000

boy. charlie was important with a rare brain disorder and he's been having dozens of seizures a day since the power went out after the severe storms rolled through last week. >> it could be life-threatening even more so. oaf the -- over the past couple months we have had respiratory problems. >> they have a portable generator but it's not strong enough to power the air conditioner. she called the utility company not looking for preferential treatment but hoping to find out when the power will be restored. she says no one has been able to give her an answer. tonight the inner harbor will be lit up with fireworks. in an effort to keep you safe as well as your family, the city police are doing extra things to make sure that it is a safe environment. sherrie johnson joins with us more to tell us how. >> reporter: yes, tonight ght f display at baltimore inner harbor. city police expect a large crowd and say they are ready. last year a man was stabbed to
